One Big Hurdle is Behind Us

I know that many people have been praying for us as we go through the legal process to officially adopt Macrina. There are two potential birth fathers that need to have their rights terminated. One of the potential birth fathers (actually we are positive he is the father) has not been found through publishing and at a court hearing on Friday his rights were officially terminated. This is the big step we have been waiting for because we are positive this mystery man is her birth father. The judge is making us publish for the husband of the birth mother, even though it is clear to us all that he is not her birth father. On January 30th, they will terminate his potential rights if he does not step forward. This all means that we might be able to finalize the adoption in February. I have not even touched the surface of the service plan that we have to put together for the agency. We have many book reports to write and a plan to stay connected to a community that includes adoptive parents of a trans racial child (if you did not know by now, Macrina is not Caucasian). We will keep you posted.
